A focus of the Friendly Mission is to provide safe shelter to those in need. We currently serve up to six men through our Mission House, to help them get on their feet. Our focus is helping our military veterans that have found themselves disenfranchised in our community, post service. In the Mission Home, men have the ability to rent a bedroom, at an affordable price. In the home, the men share common areas like the living room and kitchen, which are fully furnished.

A large population of the homeless in the greater Savannah area are those that once served our great country. There are many complex reasons why someone might find them living in one of the tent cities in our community including poverty, job or income loss, mental illness, substance abuse, health problems, or the lingering effects of PTSD. Military occupations and training are not always transferable to the civilian workforce, placing some veterans at a disadvantage when competing for employment.

Although flawless counts are impossible to come by the transient nature of homeless populations presents a major difficulty? the Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 107,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. While the VA does try to help to some to serve those that are homeless with programs, the system is congested with the demand.

We feel called to help those that find them selves with out a place to call home, after giving their lives to defend ours. We would love for you to join our efforts in serving our homeless population by volunteers and/or donating today.

OUR IMPACT EXPLAINS HOW WE SERVE PEOPLE

Since 2016, Friendly Mission has been investing into the lives of the homeless in the Savannah, Georgia area. From offering street ministry and prayer to providing southern-cooked meals and rides to church, our goal is to uplift those who are in need while helping them discover their own sense of dignity and purpose.

We have had the great honor to serve those in the Savannah area and have a positive impact on our community. Each week we impact our community by serving warm home cooked meals to those in need as well as helping find employment and empowerment to those in need.
